As a trade and international business development specialist, Barbara Mowat facilitates relationships between borders. Acting as The State of Virginia’s Trade Mission Partner in Canada, Barbara played an instrumental role in connecting two organizations - TPD and Bannockburn Global Forex, LLC.

• Bannockburn Global Forex is a boutique capital markets firm specializing in foreign exchange payments, hedge advisory, and trading. Led by Partner Mark A. Gargano and a management team with over 160 years of combined capital markets experience, since launching in 2009 Bannockburn Global Forex has found great success working with their clients. The two parties met during Virginia’s latest trade mission to British Columbia, Canada, March 18-22, 2013.

As Barbara explains: “I facilitated the trade and business matching for Virginia’s Economic Development Partnership Program. As a WPO (Women Presidents’ Organization), WEConnect International, and UnitedSucces to enable TPD to grow. The match came naturally - I knew Mark [of Bannockburn Global Forex] and Leslie needed to connect.” Global Member alongside Leslie, we speak often about the needs of her business and the capital she requires.

Sparked by Mowat’s connection, Leslie and Mark found reciprocal opportunities as a result of the Virginia Trade Mission. On March 28th, 2013 TPD signed a deal with Bannockburn Global Forex - the first official business transaction to have occurred as a result of the trade mission.
