HR Tech Trends Dominating 2017

As technology continues to seep into the HR space, more exciting developments to help organizations hire, retain, and engage their people are on the rise.

After one of the most disruptive decades in the HR market – here are some of the top trends that will dominate 2017:

Real time engagement

Understanding company culture, and building it in accordance with company values has become a high priority for a lot of businesses today. New technology is making it possible for companies to collect quarterly, monthly, and even weekly feedback from their employees. Surveys can be a few short questions, or can be gathered whenever a company is undergoing a major organizational change, or has developed a new initiative.

Simply put, platforms like 15Five and TinyPulse are making it possible for companies to know how their employees are feeling and adjust accordingly.

New performance management

The traditional annual performance review is dead – companies now more than ever are throwing away annual one-on-one meetings with rating scales. Instead, they’re adding check-ins, and developing performance management that is more data driven, and oriented around teams and company objectives.

New technology like TrakStar, ReviewSnap, and PerformYard allows for better team management, more transparent team goals, and better check-in mechanisms so everyone can stay on top of things

Team talk tools

In addition to the performance management tools that are helping departments stay accountable – a variety of software tools are now specifically designed to facilitate collaboration within and between different teams.

Not all would be considered HR tech, but platforms like RallyTeam, Wrike, Trello, and Slack are all helping employees and managers communicate and collaborate more effectively.

Mobile-friendly software

The new generation of talent coming into the workforce views desktops as a relic from the past. Taking into consideration that 75% of internet use will be mobile in 2017, all technology, including HR and employee-facing tech, should be designed for mobile use as well.

Workplace wellness apps

There has been a boom in the market for ‘well-being applications’ – and new Deloitte research shows that more than 40% of millennials will choose an employer based on the health and wellness benefits that they offer.

As a result, new tools to enable customizable benefits are becoming more common. For example, ShapeUp is a corporate wellness platform that builds employee engagement through programs and tools that start with healthy behavior changes.
