The holiday season is upon us and before we know it, it will be 2023. The New Year brings with it a host of statutory holidays in Canada and organizations should anticipate vacation requests from employees looking to mark their holidays. Here’s a list of all the statutory holidays celebrated in Canada in 2023 along with the provinces and territories they’re celebrated in.
In 2023, Canada Day falls on a Saturday. Most businesses will give Friday off in lieu but if you work Saturdays, check with your employer to avoid any surprises.
Remembrance Day also falls on a Saturday, making it easier for everyone to join in on the events commemorating the members of our armed force; especially in Ontario where this is not a statutory holiday. In those provinces where Remembrance day is a statutory holiday, most businesses will once again provide Friday off in lieu.
